Kickboxing is a world famous martial art sport, which is to some extent similar to boxing but in this we can use both hand and feet to strike our opponents. There are various kinds of kickboxing and that depends upon the region in which it is practiced. Kickboxing is an excellent cardiovascular exercise and many moves of kickboxing are similar to cardiovascular exercise. Some of the common styles of Kickboxing are Adithada or Indian boxing, Lethwei referred as Burmese boxing, Gwon gyokdo as Korean Boxing, Muay Boran a style in Ancient boxing, American Kickboxing, Pradal Serey a famous style in Khmer traditional boxing and Japanese kickboxing. Some of the famous and important Kickboxing moves are

Punching

  1. Hook is a rounded punch to head and any part of body
  2. Uppercut is the punch hitting the chin
  3. Jab is a straight punch mainly given from front hand
  4. Cross is a sort of straight punching
  5. Cross counter is quite tricky sort of punching and it begins at the spur of moment just after opponent throws a jab
  6. Short straight punch aims at hitting the chin
  7. Back fist is given from front hand, reverse back fist and strikes the head
  8. Flying punch mainly employs right hand and parallel to superman kick
  9. side kick needs the kick boxer to stand with his side to opponent and then raise his front leg and rotate on knees

10.  Overhand is semicircular or vertical punch

11.  Roundhouse kick is the most powerful kicks among all kickboxing moves

12.  Front kick is an easy one in which the opponent lift the front leg, bend on the knee and throw a kick in one hard motion.

13.  Butterfly kick is a large circular motion and one foot follows the other

14.  Rising knee strike can be given form either of the foot and is quick kickboxing move

15.  Shin block is also a sort of cardiovascular exercise in which knee is raised to chest and shoulder is placed in the similar position

16.  Axe kick is better known as hammer kick

17.  Calf kick mainly hit the backside of the calf

18.  Hood kick hit the heel of opponent from the side

19.  Crescent kick is also famous as swing kick

20.  Twist kick is positioned outward and is destined for hitting the target from side

21.  Scissor Kick is a collection of many kicks  it involves swinging of legs to hit multiple targets

22.  Flying kick is prominent in martial arts and it involves first running then start with a long jump and kick in mid air.

These are some of the famous kickboxing moves. One needs to practise a lot in order to be an expert of kickboxing.
